What is Crazy Quilt? Crazy Quilt, making quilt of old silk ties, fancy fabric dress scraps, velvets, and all kinds of ribbons and laces, and more, had a huge popularity during Victorian times. But here, Pretty Good Mahjong makes a extreme new parlance for "Crazy Quilt".
I just open Pretty Good Mahjong, and "Crazy Quilt" comes to my eys, what? Crazy Quilt? It's a name of making quilt with many different fabric. With great supprise, I start to play it. Because I know nothing about it, I spent nearly 2 hours to figure out how to play "Crazy Quilt".
The Game's Object: To build all the tiles to the foundation piles:
1's, to 2's, on up to 9's; 9's, to 8's, on down to 1's.
Game's Layout and Play
+ 12 foundation piles (4 on top, 4 on each side). At the start of the game two 1's and two 9's of each suit are removed from the tiles to begin the foundation piles. The piles starting with 1's are built up by rank in suit starting with the 1's, to 2's, on up to 9's. The piles starting with 9's are built down by rank in suit starting with the 9's, to 8's, on down to 1's.
+ tableau - At the start of the game 64 tiles are dealt out in an 8x8 square, with every other tile rotated 90 degrees. Only tiles which have a short side not blocked by another tile are available. In the initial configuration, 16 of the 28 tiles on the outside edge are available. As tiles are removed, interior tiles will become available. Available tiles from the tableau can be built onto the foundation piles. Also, an available tile in the tableau can be played on the waste pile if it is in sequence up or down in suit.
+ stock pile (top left, face down) - turn over tiles one at a time to the waste pile by clicking (you can also just press the Enter key). When the stock is empty, clicking on the empty stock will turn over the tiles in the waste pile back to the stock pile (only one redeal is allowed).
+ waste pile (next to stock) - top tile is available for play on the foundations. An available tile in the tableau can be played on the waste pile if it is in sequence up or down in suit.
