How to play Word Wizard Deluxe

+ Gerring Started

Use 7 letters to create up to 60 words. The possible words are shown on the left side. The grid on the right is where you lay the tiles out. Your first word has to cover the "start" square and all words after theat have to be linked together. When you have your words laid out, hit the "Submit" button to score them. You can lay out more than one word in a single turn.

+ Placing letters

You can place letters by left clicking on the tile and, while holding the button down, dragging it to the desired location.

A faster way to place multiple tiles is to place the first one as descrived above then "flipping out" the remaining letters. To flip a tile, click on it and quickly release the mouse button. A left button click will place it in the first open spot to the right of the last tile you placed. A right click will place it in the first open spot below the last tile you placed.

+ Romoving letters

Click the "Clear" button and all the tiles will return to the tile tray, or click on a single tile and drag it off the board. Once tile has been scored (submitted) it can't be removed.

+ Bonus combo words

These are words that are made up by using a tile already on the board in addtion to the 7 you have in the tray. As an example, you have only one "D" in your seven letters, but playing off another "D" on the board, you speel "DAD". This is a bonus word. You get the points, but it does not count towards completing the level.

+ Spellbound mode

Each word you lay out using any of the 7 letters counts towards completing the level. The Score board on the upper left shows waht % of the words you need to complete to move on to the next level. Each Level gets more difficult with:

1. more obscure 7 letter words
2. greater numbers of words
3. greater percentage of the possible words

+ Blackout mode

Blackout mode is aobut solving a single puzzle. You must solve all the possible words from that can be made with a given set of 7 letter. Every game is solvable, but the wizard levels can be very difficult. You get bonus points for solving all the words of a certain length and a 10,000 point bonus is you get 100%.

+ Scoring big points

1. solve the 7-letter words; they give you an extra 2000 points. Get all words listed on the left and get a extra 10,000 points.

2. Create as many words in a single "submit" as possible. Each addtional letter is worth progressively more points. A 3 letter word is worth 60 points, but a 6 letter word or two 3 letter words are worth 210 points.

3. Utilize the 2x and 4x word multiplyers whenever possible.

+ Seven letter word clue

The gives you a (vague) clue as to what the 7-letter word is. You get a 2000-point bonus for guessing it and getting it laid out on the board.

+ Tips for getting through levels

1. Lay out the longest words first. This spreads them out over the board and will open up many short word spots for later on.

2. Lay out a grid first then fill in with shorter words later. This will open up free letters for you to build off of later in the game.

3. Avoid lockouts. this is when you have a large section of the board that does not have any access to new words. Lots of short words together can cause this.
